Welcome to Camp Extreme!! Girls Division Staff training begins on Thursday, June 30 and Boys Division Staff Training begins on July 28. Please read through the following information to prepare yourself for your trip.
COVID-19 Policy: Proof of double vaccination is required to enter Canada. If you have not yet done so, please email a copy of your vaccination card to [email protected]. In advance of your trip, the ArriveCan app must be downloaded to receive safety clearance to arrive into Canada, more info here: www.canada.ca/en/border-services-agency/services/arrivecan
Youth Protection Training: In order to make staff training as effective as possible, please familiarize yourself with the Project Extreme staff manual. Please also set aside time to become certified with BOA Youth Protection Training. Completing the webinars now will save much-needed time during training. Standard youth protection training can be found here: https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/, with teen program training here: https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/venturing/
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training is required and can be find here: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/cchr/law/sexual-harassment-training.page.
Completion certificates for these three trainings must be emailed to [email protected].
Travel to and from Camp Extreme:
· Flight information will be sent to each staff individually. Depending on your departure city and when your flight was booked, some will be flying solo and others in a small group.
· It is the staff member’s responsibility to arrive at the airport on time and to make their flight. Flight costs due to late airport arrival will be at the expense of the staff member.
· Please sign up for trip confirmation and delay notifications. Notify the Project Extreme office immediately of any expected delays and/or cancellations @ 516-612-3922 Ext 110.
· Confirm baggage requirements with your airline and any additional costs. Project Extreme will reimburse for one bag.
Packing List: I’ve attached a staff packing list with modesty guidelines. A sleeping bag and pillow are needed for all. In addition to the items listed, make sure to bring appropriate ID. All licensed drivers must have their driver’s license on them at all times. In addition, please come with cash and/or a credit card in case needed prior to meeting up with the full group. If there are any delays between connecting flights and/or unexpected expenses you will need to be prepared and reimbursed later on. Project Extreme will cover all trip expenses, although you may want to purchase additional snacks/ souvenirs, etc. during the course of your trip and summer.
Emergency Contact: In case of true emergency, please have family call the office during office hours at 516-612-3922. An after hours number will be shared closer to the program. Note that these numbers may not be used as a messaging service and should be used in emergency only.
Traveler’s Insurance: Project Extreme recommends traveler’s medical insurance for your trip. Should you be in need of a doctor during camp, you will be responsible for all medical expenses. www.travelguard.com is suggested.
Mail: Due to the continuous traveling, staff will not be able to receive mail, care packages, or email during the Camp Extreme program.
Additional Information and Travel Day instructions: More information will follow, including instructions upon arriving at Edmonton International or MSP airport. Please keep in touch and join the appropriate staff chat.
We are looking forward to another lifesaving summer at Camp Extreme! Please email [email protected] or call 516-612-3922 with any questions.
